Head to Head Stats
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 23 home Premier League matches against Everton (19W, 4D).
In the last three Premier League meetings between the two, it’s been a mixed bag for Arsenal getting 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.
Everton have lost their last 5 games at the Emirates.
Last time out at Goodison it was a 0-0 stalemate.
Match Preview
With two positive results under Arteta’s sides belt since the winter break, they will look to continue their run of good form when Everton travel down to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams will be confident going into this fixture, with Arsenal unbeaten in 2020 and Everton having a spike in results since Carlo Ancelotti took over. It will be an interesting battle as the away sides newly appointed manager recently said in a press conference that his side need to stop the rot when on the road and hinted at the idea his team will press the Gunners high up the pitch. If Everton do so, I expect to see an intense end to end game with both sides trying to play intricate attacking football in order to come away with three points. Let’s see the team news for the two sides going into this massive fixture:
Arteta will still be without Callum Chambers as he remains Arsenal’s only long term absentees. Kieran Tierney is edging closer to first team action as it appears he is almost in full training. Hector Bellerin missed out on Thursday night and is being assessed on a tight left groin ahead of the weekends game. Sokratis picked up a knock on his knee against Olympiacos and is also being assessed to see if he can be deemed fit. Midfielders Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil are now available for selection after missing out for illness and personal reasons. The only other player who won’t be available for Arteta is Cedric Soares who is continuing his rehabilitation and should be back in full training by next week. Ancelotti will welcome André Gomes back into the fray in his first game back from a horrific ankle injury against Tottenham. The only doubt for the away side is Theo Walcott with his return date unknown.
