Match Preview
The Arsenal camp should be in high sprits after they kept their hopes of European Football alive on Wednesday night, as they beat the Champions 2-1 at the Emirates. Pep’s side will also be feeling confident going into this one as their fine form continued with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth last time out.
The Gunners have been impressive since the restart, especially within the last few weeks which has seen them defeat Liverpool, Wolves, Southampton and Norwich in the league, while also beating Sheffield United in the last round to see them reach Wembley for a record 30 times. Manchester City have been equally impressive in recent weeks as they have won 5-0 on three separate occasions in their last 9 games, with wins coming against Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, Liverpool and The Gunners themselves. Let’s see both sides injury news going into this massive game:
Arteta has received a few boosts ahead of this game and next season as Bernd Leno is already participating in outside running with the aim to return to full training within the next couple of days/weeks. Callum Chambers is also progressing well from an ACL injury as he is also doing light outdoor training, ahead of a return next season. Gabriel Martinelli has been given a scheduled return to full training by the end of the year, which is a major blow for Arsenal and the youngster as he has been incredible in his first season. The visitors are only missing one player, but it’s a huge one for them, as Sergio Aguero will not be ready in time as he injured his knee a few weeks ago.
