Match Preview

Arsenal will need to bounce back from their demoralising defeat to bitter rivals Spurs on Wednesday night as they welcome Champions Liverpool to the Emirates. The visitors are hunting down the Premier League points record and the Gunners are looking to salvage their season and achieve a small miracle to finish in a European spot, therefore this fixture is set to be a cracker.

The home side were in great form before the game on Sunday and have still managed 4 wins in their last 6 games in all competitions with 1 draw and 1 loss, however it will require a real show in character to continue on the same path as the Reds look to be formidable this season. On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp’s side have 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in their last 6 games with the only blip coming in a 4-0 drumming by Manchester City two weeks ago. Let’s have a look at the team news for both sides:

The treatment room remains packed for Arsenal as long term absentees Gabriel Martinelli, Callum Chambers and Pablo Mari will be out for the rest of the season. It isn’t all bad news on the injury front though as Bernd Leno is progressing well from his sprained ligament in his knee and is expected to be back in full training before the end of the current campaign. Eddie Nketiah will be serving the second game of his three match suspension and will next be available for our visit to Villa Park. Mesut Özil is being assessed ahead of the match as he continues to struggle with back soreness. Jurgen Klopp will also be without a few key players as James Milner looks likely to miss out with a thigh injury along with fellow Englishman Jordan Henderson as he is ruled out for the season. Defender Joel Matip also won’t feature again this campaign for the Reds.
